What should be included in a wellbeing program?
If you are asking yourself this question, you may have been approaching this program the hard way. You may not have started with individuals and what they think is important to the wellbeing program, nevertheless what the big elements from the wellbeing program are.- The obvious one that everyone goes for is the physical side of it, for example: gym memberships, swimming pools, putting in certain fitness elements into the organisation, modifying things around the organisation, nutrition, and cooking classes. All of these things are the physical side of things and that is generally where people stop. We actually like to work “above the neck” and to go into two (2) other specific areas.
- Mental fitness. We call it mental fitness for a reason because it is a way of getting your fitness and wellbeing up so that you won’t even get unwell. The big ones are resilience, optimism and how you think about things in a way that doesn’t cause stress. A stress free way of approaching and thinking of work.
- Emotional is all about making sure that you are in a good place yourself. Having a very positive attitude and being as emotionally high as you can be first thing in the morning. Whatever you’re emotional state is that will influence your perception of the workplace and that influences your reaction.
